Wallenius Wilhelmsen/Keen Transport, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Facility Maintenance at our yard in Savannah, GA. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

Job Description


  • Adjust functional parts of devices/control instruments using tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, and tools.
  • Inspect, operate, and test company equipment and devices in order to diagnose malfunctions.
  • repair and maintain buildings, walls, and other structures.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and machinery found in company buildings.
  • Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, drywall, and other parts of building structures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Plan and lay out repair work using drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Estimate repair costs.
  • Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing

Job Requirements


  • High School diploma and demonstrated ability to follow specific orders
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Basic carpentry/mechanical skills required
  • Frequent lifts and carrying of up to 50 pounds for distances of 50 feet, including overhead lifting
  • Climbing to and working at heights of up to 15 feet
  • Completing a full workday walking and/or standing
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Sufficient hand dexterity and strength to fasten, insert, and remove bolts, machine parts and pins of various sizes and weights and to operate and withstand the impact and vibration of electric and air-powered power tools.
  • Sufficient hand and arm strength to unpack, install, or remove machine parts. May include the use of a 20 pound sledgehammer or other hand or power tools.
  • Conduct work responsibilities while exposed to dirt, dust, and fumes from the operation of construction equipment, trucks, cranes, forklifts, etc.
  • Maintain regular attendance as may be required for the position.
  • Steel-toe boots required.
  • Must pass post-offer drug screen and background check as a condition of hire.
