    Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a talented Port and Cargo Operations Supervisor to join our Galveston, TX team.

     

    As a member of the Wallenius Wilhelmsen team, your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

    Job Description

    • Manage administrative duties related to Galveston port / terminal / vessel operations.
    • Reconcile cargo manifests, both inbound and outbound.
    • Prepare vessel files
    • Track and trace cargo.
    • Warehouse appointment setting
    • Crane appointments
    • Driver Coordination
    • Dirty cargo notifications
    • Assist in working vessels as required.                              
    • Assist in vessel, terminal, stevedoring operations to ensure Cargo Handling guidelines and requirements are followed.
    • Communicate and work effectively with Vessels, Vessel Planners, Trade Management, Customer Service, Accounting, suppliers and contractors to optimize performance.
    • Assist Customer Care Team as needed.
    • Back-up to local and regional Ocean Operations teams in all vessel related activities to include, vessel attendance, vessel set-up and vessel finalization.
    • Develop and strengthen relations with customers and share relevant intelligence with when beneficial to the organization.
    • Full and complete adherence to all company safety procedures at all times, no exceptions. #CB

    Job Requirements

    • 2 years previous experience in vessel / port operations and customer service; college degree preferred
    • Proven strong skills in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and Outlook.
    • Proven advanced skills in using various computer systems; comfortable self-learning systems to improve skills.  Previous experience in ocean carrier documentation systems preferred.
    • Advanced ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple competing priorities and demands.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and administrative skill to effectively work cross functionally through a matrix structure.
    • Good analytical and decision making skills; basic Accounting understanding related to invoice credits and coding.
    • Knowledge and understanding of vessel operations, ARC Cargo Handling guidelines, labor contracts, terminal operations, local and federal maritime and security regulations, OSHA requirements and safety guidelines and procedures.
    • Be physically able to work in extreme weather conditions, both cold and hot temperatures.
    • Be physically able to work in a ship's cargo area and port terminal where conditions can be very loud, have sand/dirt in the area, large mechanical and potentially hazardous equipment working nearby your physical space.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural business and workplace environment with local vendors and customers.
