    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position is responsible for the completion of assigned work within the time and quality limits established. Total customer satisfaction with the work performed is the primary goal of this position, doing the right things correctly, the first time. The employee also recognizes their responsibility to perform all work in a safe and efficient manner and to adhere to all the safety rules regarding the use of PPE including the wearing of safety toed work shoes or any other safety equipment deemed necessary.

    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

     

      Working knowledge of the following mechanical and technical systems and the physical ability   to apply this knowledge in a hands-on manner:

    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulics
    • Braking systems
    • Pneumatic and driveline systems
    • Air-conditioning systems
    • Cooling systems
    • Capable of using test and measurement tools that apply to areas listed above
    • Capable of supervising others assigned to jobs in support roles and completing all documents associated with the job including work orders.
    • Capable of design and fabrication to meet customer specifications.

     

    JOB DUTIES

    1. Apply practical knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines and associated systems as indicated in the essential job functions.
    2. Troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on various systems for the purpose of disassembly, repair, and reassembly of systems listed in the essential job functions.
    3. Use of test equipment including but not limited too:

    Engine diagnostics                              gauges

    Multi-meters                                        flow meters

    Pressure testing equipment                dials indicators

    Compression testing equipment         use of a bore scope

    1. Read and understand the following schematics and prints:
    2. Hydraulic                                             electrical

              Pneumatic                                           air-conditioning

                          Braking                                                welding

                         Mechanical assembly blueprints

    1. Working knowledge of all welding techniques including but not limited too: gas, arc, mig & tig techniques.
    2. Use of hand tools including but not limited too:

                         Saws                           drill presses                             grinders

     

                         Punch presses            press brakes                           track burning equipment

                        Use of all types of measuring equipment including but not limited to:

     

                        SAE and Metric rulers                        calipers

                        Micrometers                            machinist scale

    1. Must be able to distinguish between base metals including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brass, and bronze.
    2.   Must have the capability to supervise others assigned to the same job and insure that the job is completed in a timely and safe manner, always meeting the customer’s specified standards.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. High School education or demonstrated ability to interpret plans and directions to execute duties listed above and to provide written requests for materials, technical assistance, and for the completion of work orders or other job related forms, requests, or evaluations.
    2. Ability to satisfy the physical requirements of the job listed below as evidenced by successful completion of the company functional physical agility test.
    • Frequent lifts and carrying of up to 50 pounds for distances of 50 feet
    • Overhead lifting of 50 pounds
    • Climbing to and working at heights of up to 15 feet
    • Completing a full workday walking and/or standing
    • Perform work from a wide range of positions including: standing, sitting, bending , reaching, kneeling, reclining, from scaffolding or ladders
    • Sufficient hand and arm strength to unpack, install, or remove machine parts. May include the use of a 20 pound sledgehammer or other hand or power tools.
    • Pushing and pulling heavy material handling equipment such as floor cranes or jacks, and engaging in activities such as rolling tires or moving oak blocking.
    • Sufficient hand dexterity and strength to fasten, insert, and remove bolts and pins of various sizes and weights from a few ounces to 20 pounds and to operate and withstand the impact and vibration of electric and air-powered power tools.
    • Capable of work outside in all reasonable weather conditions
    • Conduct work responsibilities while exposed to dirt, dust, and fumes from the operation of construction equipment, cranes, forklifts, etc.
    • Must pass NIDA 5 drug screen as a condition of hire.
    • Maintain regular attendance as may be required for the position.
